بيان : WITNESS تتضامن مع «المبادرة المصرية» وتدعوا حلفائها إلى الإدانة الدولية لاعتقالات النشطاء في مصر

نود أن نلفت الانتباه إلى الاستهداف الأخير للمبادرة المصرية للحقوق الشخصية والاعتقال غير المسبوق لثلاثة من موظفيها من قبل سلطات الأمن المصرية الأسبوع الماضي. فقد جاء اعتقال جاسر عبد الرازق وكريم عنارة ومحمد بشير بعد وقت قصير من اجتماع مع دبلوماسيين أجانب في القاهرة لمناقشة أوضاع حقوق الإنسان في مصر. والأعضاء الثلاثة محتجزون حاليا على ذمة المحاكمة بتهمة الانتماء إلى منظمة إرهابية وتقويض الأمن العام من خلال نشر معلومات كاذبة.
إننا نشعر بقلق بالغ إزاء تدهور حالة حقوق الإنسان في مصر والتصعيد المخيف للهجمات ضد قادة حقوق الإنسان ومنظمات المجتمع المدني ذات السمعة الجيدة والذين لازالو يتحملون وطأة القمع الشديد الذي تفرضه السلطات المصرية منذ عام 2013.
يقدر عدد السجناء السياسيين في سجون مصر بـ 60 ألف سجين وتشير التقارير أيضاً أن بينهم أطفال يعيش المعتقلين في ظروف سجن قاسية وغير آمنة كما يواجه الآلاف من أعضاء المجتمع المدني والصحفيين الذين يرصدون ويوثقون ويبلغون عن هذه الانتهاكات وغيرها في ظل نظام السيسي التهديد اليومي بالاعتقال وغيره من أشكال التنكيل المختلفة.
ندعو جميع حلفائنا للانضمام إلى الإدانة الدولية لهذه الإجراءات الأخيرة من قبل السلطات المصرية والمطالبة بالإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط عن جاسر عبد الرازق وكريم عنارة ومحمد بشير وآلاف المعتقلين السياسيين الآخرين الذين تم اعتقالهم بشكل تعسفي ومحاكمتهم من قبل النظام المصري وجهاز الأمن.
كما ندعو الحكومة المصرية إلى إلغاء القوانين المكتوبة بشكل غامض والتي يستهدف بها حرية الرأي والتعبير مثل قانون الجرائم الإلكترونية وقانون تنظيم وسائل الإعلام.

We would like to call attention to the recent targeting of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), and the unprecedented arrest of three of their staff by Egyptian security authorities just last week. The arrest of Jasser Abdelrazek, Kareem Enara, and Mohammed Basheer happened shortly after a meeting with foreign diplomats in Cairo to discuss human rights in Egypt. The three members are currently being held in pretrial detention accused of belonging to a terrorist organization, undermining public security by spreading false information and using the Internet to spread false news.
We are deeply concerned about the deteriorating human rights situation in Egypt and the alarming escalation of attacks against human rights leaders and reputable civil society organizations in the country who continue to bear the brunt of the severe crackdown enforced by Egyptian authorities since 2013. There are an estimated 60,000 political prisoners in Egypt’s prisons, including children, who are living in brutal and unsafe prison conditions. Thousands of civil society members and journalists monitoring, documenting and reporting on this and other violations under Sisi’s regime face the daily threat of arrest and other harm.
We call on all of our allies to join the international condemnation of these recent actions by Egyptian authorities and to demand the immediate and unconditional release of Jasser Abdelrazek, Kareem Enara, and Mohammed Basheer as well as the thousands of other political prisoners arbitrarily arrested and prosecuted by Egypt’s regime and security apparatus.
We also call on the Egyptian government to repeal its raft of vaguely written and disproportionate laws which restrict freedom of expression and provide authorities with a legal basis for existing censorship practices, such as the Cybercrime Law and Media Regulation Law.
